Gov’t affordable housing units up for sale in Nakuru
You can now own one of the government’s affordable housing units for Ksh3,150,000 or Ksh4,250,000.
That is the price tag for the sale of President William Ruto’s houses in Bondeni Nakuru County as indicated in an advertisement by the Ministry of Lands and Housing on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Interested buyers have been asked to visit the site for viewing and later register on the Boma Yangu Portal to purchase their units of choice.
“Your applications should be channelled through www.bomayangu.go.ke,” part of the advertisement stated.
The ministry stated that for Ksh3.13M one can acquire a two-bedroom unit with a total area of 64 square metres while Ksh4.15 is the amount for 3-bedroom units measuring 85 square metres.
To qualify for purchase, one must pay a 10% deposit upfront. Qualified Kenyans will then be offered a rent-to-own home loan at a monthly rate of Ksh16,997 for the two-bedroom house and Ksh22,933 for the three-bedroom house.
The sale comes after Ruto vowed to do whatever it takes to fulfil this project that dominated his campaign pledges.
According to him, affordable housing projects will not only solve the housing problem in the country but also the unemployment menace.
This comes as he invites an olive branch to the Judiciary to support the housing projects after the court barred the collection of the Housing Levy, terming it unconstitutional.
