A family in Teso North, Busia County is calling upon well-wishers and sponsors to help its child achieve her dream of becoming a judge by helping her join Cardinal Otunga Girls High School where she secured an admission slot.
In an interview with K24 Digital, Dennis Ing’ila Okabose the father of the 14-year-old girl, Tracey Ikee Ing’ila who scored 370 marks in KCPE, says he is devastated after the date she was supposed to join passed as they were unable to raise the required school fees.
The home’s breadwinner who is also sickly has been forced to have his daughter stay at home as her peers start Secondary school education.

“I have been sick for close to three years now. I can now not be able to help my family as I previously did. I even do not have the strength to walk and work,” Okabose told K24 Digital.
The father further explained that his effort to get help from the area MCA and application for the Equity bank’s Wings to Fly Scholarship were futile.
“She went for Equity’s Wings to Fly scholarship interview but we have not received any communication from them,” the father said in part.
“We approached the area MCA and he said the bursary allocation had not yet been disbursed. But I got surprised because I thought it is urgent and he could help immediately,” Okabose explained tearfully.
Tracey who sat her 2021 KCPE exams at Kakemer Primary Day and Boarding School is however still hopeful of joining High School to pursue her dreams.
Last month, Nairobi governor Anne Kananu step in to help another needy pupil who was almost losing his Secondary school admission slot.
“I know God will open the way for well-wishers and sponsors to help me join Cardinal Otunga,” Tracey said.
Form One Students across the country started reporting to schools last week.
This comes a few weeks after results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams were released.
Cabinet Secretary George Magoha presented the results to President Uhuru Kenyatta before releasing the results.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi, received Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examination results for the year 2021 from Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha.
“President Kenyatta congratulated the Ministry of Education and the KNEC team for delivering credible national exams which have shown tremendous progress in day and sub-county schools. The President pointed out that more resources should be channelled to the sub-counties and day schools as they are a lesser burden to parents.
“Present at the meeting were, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i, Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Juan, Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia, KNEC Chairman John Onsati and the council’s Chief Executive Officer David Njeng’ere.”
