Eric Omondi steps in to help Nairobi boy working in quarry join Alliance High School
Popular activist and stand-up comedian Eric Omondi has intervened to help a young boy who has resorted to working in a quarry after failing to join Alliance Boys High School.
The comedian shared the plight of John Mwangi on his Instagram account, appealing for support from well-wishers.
Omondi revealed that Mwangi passed his examinations with flying colours and was invited to join the renowned national school.
Mwangi, who hails from a humble background, has, however, been unable to join the school and has been working at a quarry in Mukuru Kwa Njenga to make ends meet.
“This is John Mwangi… He is supposed to be at Alliance Boys High. He passed with flying colours, but he is here at Quarry in Mukuru Kwa Njenga trying to make ends meet,” Omondi stated.
Omondi’s appeal for support
The renowned philanthropist appealed for support to help Mwangi join the school, urging well-wishers to channel any form of support to his father.
He promised to see to it that Mwangi reports to Alliance High School on January 20, 2026.

“Huyu tunampeleka Alliance kesho asubuhi na Mapema (we shall take him to Alliance tomorrow very early in the morning). Send whatever you can to the father,” he added.
Omondi’s touching initiatives
Through his philanthropy and with the backing of his followers on social media and other well-wishers, the comedian has touched the lives of many Kenyans in need.
From intervening to help those in need access quality treatment to supporting with school fees and helping others establish businesses to be self-sufficient, his initiatives have earned him praise.
The comedian hosted mothers, single mothers and young mothers from across Lang’ata on Sunday, January 18, 2026, and launched a new initiative dubbed “Inua Mama”.

“I hosted mothers, single mothers and young mothers from across Langata at my place today. It is our mothers that form the glue that holds together our families and communities. We prayed and laughed, but above all I listened to them keenly. Ni hawa tu ndio wametulea na wanaelewa shida za jamii. We also launched Inua Mama, a programme that seeks to lift one mother every week,” Omondi stated.
His efforts have seen him win several awards, including The Humanitarian Impact of the Year Award (2025) at the Pride of Kenya Awards and The People’s Champion Award at the NGOs Awards 2025.
