Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday mourned his teacher in a glowing tribute during his funeral ceremony.
In his speech, the country’s second-in-command hailed the late Julius Kano Ndumbi as a gifted teacher and disciplinarian who moulded, mentored and prepared him for the future during his school days at Kianyaga Boys High School.
The DP celebrated the departed teacher as a gentle giant who relentlessly strived to deliver nothing but the best for his students, he also acknowledged that his efforts have created an impact that remains a legacy in various sectors.
“I am what I am today, because of Mwalimu Julius Kano Ndumbi. Mwalimu Ndumbi was a gifted teacher, a disciplinarian, who moulded, mentored and prepared us at Kianyaga Boys High School for the future. As we lay him to rest today at Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, we celebrate a gentle giant, who wanted and delivered nothing, but the best out of his students. His impact, together with his gallant team of teachers, remains a legacy in many sectors,” Gachagua said.
The deputy president also expressed his sympathies to the family and loved ones of the departed teacher.
“That is why laying him to rest was not only a painful moment for me, but also a time of reflection. I thank Mwalimu Kano Ndumbi. My deepest sympathies and that of my family to his Family, Relatives, Friends and former students with whom we cherish the life of this great man together. We pray that the Almighty God rests the soul of Mwalimu in Peace; may perpetual light shine upon him forever.”
