ODM politician and Kamukunji Parliamentary hopeful Alinur Mohamed is crying foul after allegedly being asked to give up his political ambitions.
Alinur claims to have been asked to step down in favour of incumbent MP Yusuf Hassan Abdi after Kamukunji was zoned for Jubilee.
Taking to social media, Alinur says the zoning strategy move by the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition is a threat to democracy.
“Unfortunately, Kamukunji Constituency has been zoned for the Jubilee Party making it impossible for the people of Kamukunji to have the leader of their choice.”
“This is very painful, this is frustrating and it is a threat to our democracy,” Alinur wrote in a tweet.
He says following the new directive, his investment in the campaigns has been a waste claiming that he had sold his properties to sell his manifesto to voters in Kamukunji.
“I have been campaigning for the last four years, selling my agenda to the people and doing lots of activities to change lives in Kamukunji Constituency.”
“I have sold my property worth millions of shillings and used the money to campaign just to ensure my dream of serving,” he said.
Alinur’s next move
He is yet to declare his next move.
This comes days after Bahati cried foul after being asked by Jubilee to step down in the Mathare MP seat.
“I am being told that I need to recall the certificate and step down for the sitting MP since he(MP) feels threatened and he feels that if I am in the ballot box, the seat will not go back to ODM which I have said no,” Bahati said in a press conference amid tears.
…the people comes true. Unfortunately, Kamukunji Constituency has been zoned for the Jubilee Party making it impossible for the people of Kamukunji to have the leader of their choice. This is very painful, this is frustrating and it is a threat to our democracy.
