Rasmus Hojlund completes permanent move to Napoli from Manchester United
Manchester United has confirmed the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund, who has joined Napoli on a permanent transfer.
News of the striker switch has been made public by the club this Wednesday, May 3, 2026, following a loan spell at the Naples-based club.
“Everyone at the club would like to wish Rasmus all the very best for the future,” a statement from Manchester United read.
Reds Devils stint
Højlund joined from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 and scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Red Devils.
He was part of the Reds squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup in May 2024, having come on as a substitute against Manchester City at Wembley.
However, after a tough couple of seasons, he departed at the start of the 2025/26 season, returning to Italy on a season-long loan.

Alongside that, he helped Napoli win the Supercoppa Italiana and finish runners-up in Serie A. The season marked the revelation of a new project under Antonio Conte as Hojlund joined. Kevin De Bruyne, who had joined Conte’s rebuilding phase at the club.
Napoli had signed Scottish players Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay, Brazilian player David Neres, and the prolific Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku en route to the win of the fourth Scudetto as the club marked a historic 100th anniversary.
Youthful years
The Danish international came through the youth academy systems in his native Scandinavian country, primarily playing for FC Copenhagen, where he made his professional breakthrough. He also played for Sturm Graz in Austria and Atalanta in Italy.
The Italian club has acted to activate the £38M clause to sign the striker permanently after securing UEFA Champions League participation for next season, just as United also did.
Napoli finished second in Serie A behind Inter Milan to secure a place in the European elite competition, where they will also face club such as Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal Aston Villa, and Liverpool.
