Kenya placed in Pool C of 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Championship
The Kenya rugby sevens national team is placed in Pool C of the beckoning 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Championship, which will take place in Cascavelle, Mauritius, on June 20 and 21, 2026.
The competition will be staged at the SPARC complex and forms part of the celebrations commemorating four decades of Rugby Africa’s existence. The event is expected to attract some of the strongest rugby sevens nations from across the continent as they battle for continental supremacy.
12 teams set for action
A dozen countries will participate in this year’s championship, with the teams divided into three groups of four.
Defending champions South Africa have been placed in Pool A alongside Zambia, Nigeria and tournament hosts Mauritius.
Pool B brings together Madagascar, Uganda, Ghana and Tunisia, while Kenya have been drawn in Pool C with Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Morocco.

The two-day competition is expected to deliver thrilling sevens rugby, with supporters anticipated to turn out in large numbers to watch Africa’s top teams compete for honours.
South Africa looking to defend Crown
South Africa enter the tournament as the reigning champions after lifting the 2025 title. The Springbok Sevens secured the championship by defeating Madagascar 28-12 in the final, a match also played on Mauritian soil.
Kenya narrowly missed out on a medal last year after suffering a heartbreaking 21-19 defeat to Zimbabwe in the third-place playoff. The Morans eventually finished fourth in the competition.

The 2026 edition will mark the third consecutive year that Mauritius has hosted the prestigious continental tournament.
