Africa’s sprints record holder Ferdinand Omanyala is in for a stiff competition as a star-studded international lineup prepares to battle for glory in the men’s 100m race at the upcoming Kip Keino Classic, scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The highly anticipated sprint showdown will feature some of the fastest athletes from across the globe, promising a thrilling contest that is expected to draw massive crowds to the Nairobi venue. The event, which runs from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm, will be open to the public free of charge, giving fans a rare opportunity to witness elite athletics up close.

Leading the impressive lineup is Kenya’s own sprint sensation Ferdinand Omanyala, who will carry the hopes of the home crowd. Omanyala, widely regarded as one of Africa’s fastest men, is expected to face stiff competition from a formidable cast of international rivals eager to claim victory on Kenyan soil.

For Omanyala, the Kip Keino Classic challenge comes shortly after claiming victory in the men’s 100 metres at the Addis Ababa Grand Prix held on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

American-born Haitian sprinter Chris Borzor finished in second position after clocking 10.16 seconds. Following the victory in Ethiopia, Omanyala took his joy to Facebook on Sunday morning, April 19, 2026.

”I found my rhythm when I realised the step backwards was part of the dance. The world calls it a setback. Champions call it timing. You do not lose momentum when you step back. You load up,” Omanyala said after the win.

Facing a strong lineup of African competitors, the Kenyan star delivered an outstanding performance, pulling clear of his rivals to win convincingly in 9.98 seconds.
