Murang’a Seal beat Kakamega Homeboyz to end 5-game struggle

Murang’a Seal’s five-game league rot has finally come to a halt following a gutsy 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz at St. Sebastian Park this Sunday, May 10, 2026.
FKF Premier League top marksman Joe Waithira came clutch with the all-important goal to steer the club to a long-awaited victory—the first under coach Denis Odhiambo, who took the reins after the departure of Osborne Monday.
Seal’s struggles
The timely win comes as a relief for a side that had struggled to anchor a dismal run of form, having recently succumbed to defeats against Kariobangi Sharks, Police FC, and a collapse against Nairobi United.
The capitulation against Naibois was in particular, a tough blow as Seal surrendered a two-goal lead to fall to Michael Karamor’s hat trick.
Seal’s mid-season slump saw them drop out of the top five and culminated in a shock exit from the FKF Cup round of 16 against minnows Mfalme FC on April 11. That defeat proved to be the final straw for Monday, who left the club shortly after.

The victory propels Seal back into the top ten, tied on 41 points with ninth-placed Bandari FC.
Gor Mahia next
This resurgence comes at a critical time as they prepare to face title-chasing Gor Mahia in their next fixture, followed by clashes against Bidco United and Mara Sugar in their penultimate and final games of the season.
The encounter began with Waithira and Lucas Maina proving to be a constant menace to the Homeboyz defense.
Maina and Waithira lead Seal’s dance
Early in the nervy start, Waithira earned a promising free kick just outside the box; while the hosts failed to convert that specific chance, it served as a warning of things to come.
The talisman eventually sent Odhiambo’s side in front, and his strike proved to be the difference as the sides went into the breather.
