From America to Shabana: Kenyan youngster Luis Ingavi joins Gusii-based KPL side

Shabana FC’s restructuring for the upcoming Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) season continues to take shape following the confirmation of a new addition to the squad.
Former Kenya U20 striker Luis Ingavi has been officially unveiled by the club.
The promising prospect joins the ranks after a stint in the United States, where he played for Midwest United FC in the USL League Two while representing Saginaw Valley State University on a scholarship.
Ingavi previously earned acclaim during the 2023 CECAFA U18 Championship, scoring four goals to propel Kenya to the final before falling to Uganda, a campaign that preceded his move overseas.
His arrival seems to have set the tone for more exits, with dependable defender Wycliffe Omondi confirmed to have left the Tore Bobe’s club.
Omondi’s knack for scoring goals
Awicko leaves the Glamour Boys after the conclusion of the 2026 season with the Gusii-based side.
He joined at the start of the last campaign from Nairobi City Stars and formed a solid defensive partnership alongside skipper George Onyango.
He was particularly influential during Tore Bobe’s impressive streak under former coach Peter Okidi, netting over five goals in the top flight. His standout performances came in March 2026 as Shabana mounted a late push for a strong league finish.
Preparations for 2026/27
Shabana’s off-season rebuilding got off on Friday, July 3, 2026, with the appointment of Egyptian head coach Ahmed Fathi. Fathi took over the reins from interim boss Osborne Monday, who oversaw the first team during the closing stages of last season.
Fathi’s arrival was swiftly accompanied by the acquisition of Sigmun Maina, another former junior international.
Like Ingavi, Maina rose through the national setup—representing both the Kenya U20 and U23 teams—before a brief stint abroad.
