AFC Leopards conclude pre-season tour, set for KCCA FC showdown in Nairobi

Kenyan Premier League outfit AFC Leopards have wrapped up an action-packed pre-season tour that saw them travel to Tanzania and across the Western region in a bustling off-season calendar.

The team’s tour outside their Nairobi base concluded on Thursday, August 13, 2026, with a 2-0 win over FKF Premier League rivals Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.

Tyson Otieno claimed the match plaudits, notching a second-half brace to continue the team’s fine preseason streak.

The midweek tie was scheduled after Ingwe cancelled their final friendly in Tanzania on Monday, before traveling back to Western Kenya to face Homeboyz.

Several of the club’s new signings offered glimpses of what they will bring to the Den as preparations stepped up for the 2026/27 kickoff. Seven summer arrivals featured in the encounter under head coach Fred Ambani.

These included international imports Musa Ceesay and Adama Kanteh from Gambia, as well as the Ugandan duo of Taddeo Lwanga and custodian Tom Ikara.

They joined former KPL trio Luke Otiala, Robinson Musungu, and Naaman Balecho on the pitch.

Back to Nairobi

AFC Leopards will now return to Nairobi, giving fans in the capital and surrounding areas a chance to watch the new-look squad in action before the Football Kenya Federation Premier League season officially kicks off.

Final friendly and league opener

In a statement released on Thursday, Ingwe announced that they will host Ugandan perennial champions KCCA FC on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

“On 22nd August 2026, we host Ugandan heavyweights KCCA FC at Ulinzi Sports Complex from 4:00 PM for a friendly match,” the club stated. “Let’s all meet at Ulinzi Sports Complex, where you’ll have a chance to meet and interact with the 2026/27 AFC Leopards SC squad.” the club said,

The 2026 KPL runners-up will kick off their league fixtures with a home clash against Bandari FC from Saturday, August 29, 2026, to Sunday, August 30, 2026.
