AFC Leopards’ match against Tanzania’s Kagera Sugar cancelled

Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have been forced to cut short their pre-season trip in Tanzania following the abrupt cancellation of their scheduled friendly match against Kagera Sugar FC.
Ingwe were set to take on the Tanzanian outfit on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza for their second friendly clash in as many days.
However, the club issued an official update confirming that the clash would no longer take place, citing unavoidable circumstances beyond their control.
Ingwe’s statement
“We regret to inform our fans that our scheduled friendly match against Kagera Sugar FC that was to be played today at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused,” the club said.

Following the cancellation, the squad will immediately embark on their return journey to Kenya to set up camp in Kakamega.
AFC Leopards will now turn their focus to their final pre-season test against local rivals Kakamega Homeboyz, scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Bukhungu Stadium as they wrap up their preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The 2026 FKF PL runners-up on Sunday, August 9, 2026, kicked off their preseason in the neighbouring country on a winning note by edging Pamba Jiji by a solitary goal.
James Kinyanjui scored the lone goal in a clash that was the first of the twin friendlies scheduled for the trip.
Musa Ceesay, Robinson Musungu, Ex-bandari ace Naaman Balecho, and Sebastian Wekesa are among the new arrivals involved in the encounter as the team stepped up their preseason.
Ugandan international Taddeo Lwanga was also featured for the Fred Ambani-coached side.
