Gor Mahia vs BB Bread FKF Cup Preview: Officials’ pre-remarks, venue and team news
Gor Mahia’s quest for the FKF Cup honours is set to continue as K’ Ogalo face BB Bread in the FKF Cup round of 32 clash this Sunday, March 8, 2026, with a quarterfinal berth of the premier knockout competition at stake
The Nyayo National Stadium encounter presents the lower-tier side a rare opportunity to extend their giant-slaying run against another fancied top-league opposition.
The Nairobi Regional League side stunned AFC Leopards in the previous round, edging Fred Ambani’s team on post-match penalty shootouts after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
Heading into the clash, BB Bread’s Team Liaison Manager Philip Gitonga welcomed the fixture that pits the little-known side against two of Kenya’s most famous clubs within a span of a month.
“For sporting reasons, it is a good fixture, an opportunity for them to prepare and pull another surprise,” he told FKF after learning of the team’s draw on February 19, 2026.
Bullish BB Bread
Quizzed on his team’s chances to put Gor Mahia to the sword, a bullish Gitonga curtly retorted, “Why not?”—in a confident affirmation of his team’s chances against the high-riding FKF PL outfit.
Gitonga also admitted that lower-tier sides face significant hurdles in honouring such fixtures. “The teams coming from the lower tiers have faced challenges as we cannot adequately compete with top-tier opposition.
“We are confident the team will show its competitive edge, pull another surprise, and continue in the next stages of the competition,” he stated.
Gor Mahia, on their part, acknowledged the potential threat in wait after the Kayole-based team ousted a fancied top-league opposition.

Ronald Ngala, Gor’s administration manager, reiterated the club’s determination to reclaim its lost glory in the knockout cup after last season’s humiliation in the finals.
Going for the gong
“There is no small team in this tournament. You play your opponents as equals and give the games the seriousness they need. We thought we would carry it last year but missed it; this year we are going full throttle—we must carry the trophy,” he posited.
Gor Mahia advanced to the Round of 32 after edging Dero FC 2-0.
K’Ogalo produced a measured performance by virtue of their recent league run to outfox the FKF Division Two opposition.
