Inside BB Bread FC’s unblemished record ahead of AFC Leopards test
AFC Leopards are set to begin their quest for Shield Cup honours with a tie against little-known BB Bread FC this Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The clash has been subjected to last-minute changes, with the venue moving from Ulinzi Sports Complex to Police Sacco Stadium, as confirmed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side.
The match kick-off has also been delayed by an hour and will now kick off at 4:00 pm.
Ahead of the clash, Fred Ambani charges, riding on fine form in the top-tier league, will be out to emulate FKF PL counterparts such as Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz, who shrugged off lower league opposition in the round of 64 ties.
Gor Mahia claimed a 2-0 win over the FKF Division Two side on Saturday to advance to the next round.

The 2025 finalists were joined on the win by Kakamega Homeboyz, Ulinzi Stars, and Posta Rangers, who similarly sailed through to the next phase of the competition.
Leopards’ last Shield triumph
Leopards last clinched the Shield honours in 2017. Towering defender Abdalla Shittu Salim and Vincent Oburu provided the goals to hand Robert Matano a 2-0 win over an entertaining youthful Kariobangi Sharks side in the final staged at Moi Kasarani Stadium.
The domestic cup glory earned Leopards a direct ticket to represent Kenya in Africa’s second-tier club competition in the 2017/18 season, an achievement that has since remained elusive.

Heading to a new campaign in the premier knockout tournament, Fred Ambani’s charges will be wary about the silent threat posed by the Nairobi regional league outfit.
The Kayole-based side is currently leading the FKF Nairobi East Regional League Zone A, where they ply their trade against other formidable opponents.
Leading the pile
As per the FKF standings on February 2, 2026, the club has won all its opening six matches of the league and leads the proceedings by a maximum of 18 points.
The feat places them ahead of close rivals and the chasing trio, the Light SC, Maringo United, and Pumwani SC, who have taken to the pitch more times than the log leaders.
The Light has 16 points from eight games in second place, while Maringo United and Pumwani SC come in at third and fourth, respectively, with 14 and 11 points.
