Gor Mahia issues Nyayo Stadium access guidelines ahead of Sofapaka clash

Record FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia have released strict stadium access guidelines ahead of their highly anticipated league encounter against Sofapaka scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Nyayo National Stadium.
In a statement released on Friday evening, January 30, 2026, the club emphasised that all fans planning to attend the match must possess valid match tickets to gain entry into the stadium. The directive is part of efforts to enhance security, improve match-day organisation, and ensure smooth movement of supporters and officials.
K’Ogalo also clarified special entry procedures for members of the media. Journalists and other accredited media personnel will be required to access the stadium strictly through Gate A and must present valid accreditation for the current season.

Stadium guidelines
”Everyone accessing the Nyayo Stadium for Gor Mahia v Sofapaka tomorrow must have a ticket; media to access the stadium from Gate A and must have this season’s accreditation. Stadium access: Gate A – VVIP / VIP ticket holders, Gate C – Regular ticket holders, Posta Gate – Regular ticket holders.” The statement read in brief.
The club warned that individuals without proper accreditation will not be granted access to the venue. Gor Mahia urged supporters to comply with the guidelines and arrive at the stadium early to avoid last-minute inconveniences.
Ahead of the meeting, the match is expected to attract a large crowd as Gor Mahia continues its push for league success while Sofapaka aims to secure crucial points in the ongoing campaign.
Since first locking horns in the Kenyan top tier in 2009, Gor Mahia and Sofapaka have built a compelling league rivalry that now spans 35 meetings, shaped by contrasting paths and several season-defining moments.
Heading into the fixture, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor has called for the ball possession system of play when the record Kenyan Premier League champions meet relegation-threatened Sofapaka in a crucial league fixture.
Tactical approach

”The other day when we played them was on a difficult pitch, this time around we want to have the ball, we want to possess the ball. In that area, we are doing very well, movement with and without the ball, and of course, the idea of creating chances. I think we have the men to do it, and I think we will try as much as possible to play well,” Akonnor said.
K’Ogalo will face Batoto Ba Mungu in a bid to stretch their lead at the summit of the league standings, as rivals AFC Leopards come hotter on their heels in second position with a point shy of the Charles Akonnor’s men, who have 37 points.
