Carlos Baleba: Manchester to unveil Cameroonian star before Ipswich kickoff

Manchester United’s new signing Carlos Baleba is set to be presented to the Old Trafford faithful ahead of the Premier League clash against Ipswich Town on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
The Red Devils have confirmed that the midfielder will be briefly introduced on the pitch prior to kickoff as Michael Carrick’s side kick off their home campaign.
The midfield engine, who completed his move from Brighton & Hove Albion, joins a revamped midfield unit that includes fellow summer recruits Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, offering crucial depth while Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
Carrick optimism
The Cameroonian international’s arrival has generated significant optimism surrounding United’s midfield options, with Carrick and club legend Wayne Rooney among the high-profile figures expressing excitement over his signature.
Despite his unveiling, Carrick confirmed that Baleba will not feature against Ipswich as he recovers from a minor setback.
“He’s got a little ankle issue, so maybe a couple of weeks or so, three weeks. We knew that before. It’s no major issue. It’ll be great to have him back,” Carrick said.
Baleba’s probable debut dates
Following Sunday’s clash, Michael Carrick’s team travels to face Everton on September 6, 2026, before hosting rivals Manchester City in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on September 13.
United originally pursued Baleba during the 2025 summer transfer window, but negotiations stalled after failing to meet Brighton’s valuation. Baleba initially joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, making 112 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing two assists—including 35 appearances last season despite taking time out to represent Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.
