Arsenal trio, Rodri and EPL players who won the 2026 World Cup

Seven Premier League players became World Champions on Sunday, July 19, 2026, following Spain’s 1-0 win over Argentina after extra time in the World Cup final in New York.
Spain, the reigning European champions, secured their second world crown thanks to an extra-time goal from former Premier League winner with Manchester City, Ferran Torres.
Torres, who was part of Man City’s 2020/21 title-winning season, dispatched the clinical strike in the 106th minute to send la Roja to their second crown.
It sealed a perfect evening for several Premier League big-name stars, headlined by Arsenal trio of David Raya, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino.
Yeremy Pino, Victor Munoz, Rodri, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Pedro Porro complete the list of Spanish stars who added their names to the history books on Sunday.
Rodri, who led the Spanish team as skipper, added to his glittering record of collections. On top of personal accolades such as the 2024 Ballon d’Or, five Premier League titles, three EFL Cups, two FA Cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, the Community Shield, the UEFA European Championship and the UEFA Nations League.
Now, he has added the FIFA World Cup to his impressive list.
The deep-lying enforcer also won the Golden Ball, given to the best player of the tournament.
Arsenal contingent
With David Rraysia failing to make any appearance at the World Cup, Mikel Merino was Arsenal’s spotlight in the Spain squad.
The midfielder played a pivotal super-sub role in the championship despite featuring only as a starter in one game.
Merino scored a stoppage-time winner six minutes after entering the pitch when Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 in the round of 16. Five days later, he did it again against Belgium, scoring the winning goal with only minutes remaining to send Spain to the last four.
The feat makes him the only player in World Cup history to score the winning goal in two different knockout stage matches as a substitute.
Pedro Porro
The Spurs’ fullback scored two goals to help his team’s quest to the final and their eventual crowning. Porro’s second goal in the win over France proved a solid cushion as Spain eliminated the favourites to advance to the finals.
Liverpool’s Munoz
Liverpool’s new signing, Victor Munoz, was unused by Spain at this tournament after only breaking into the international setup earlier this year.
The right-hand side remained an understudy to Barcelona’s star winger Lamine Yamal, who is De la Fuente’s preferred starter on the right-hand side.
Yeremy Pino
A member of the UEFA Conference League medal earned with Crystal Palace in May 2026, Pino added a second piece of silverware with North America campaign wrapping off a dream season for the winger.
The signing from Vilareal appeared from the bench in Spain’s second and third group stage matches, against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, but he injured his collarbone in the latter match and did not feature in the knockout stages.
