Arsenal enquire about RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande after Morgan Rogers’ setback

Arsenal have reportedly begun exploring alternative attacking reinforcements after missing out on one of their top transfer targets, with attention now shifting to highly-rated RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
The North London club were unable to secure the signing of Morgan Rogers, who instead completed a move to Chelsea, prompting Mikel Arteta’s side to assess other options capable of strengthening their attack with pace and creativity.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal have made an initial enquiry regarding Diomande, although discussions are only at a preliminary stage and no formal negotiations have been opened with RB Leipzig.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young attacking talents, but Arsenal face significant competition for his signature. Paris Saint-Germain are currently believed to be leading the race after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the winger on a five-year contract.
Leipzig’s position
Leipzig, meanwhile, remain hopeful of convincing Diomande to extend his stay in Germany or remain at the club for at least another season. The Bundesliga side are also understood to value the youngster at around €120 million (£105 million), making any potential transfer a costly one.
Although Diomande is comfortable operating anywhere across the front three, he is said to favour playing on the right wing, where he believes he can enjoy more consistent playing time.
At this stage, Arsenal’s interest appears to be more of a background assessment than the start of a serious pursuit. With PSG already holding a strong advantage and the player reportedly favouring a move to the French champions, the Gunners would need to convince him to abandon his preferred destination.
His preferred position also raises questions over how well he fits Arsenal’s current priorities. After missing out on Morgan Rogers, Arteta’s side are believed to be placing greater emphasis on strengthening the left side of their attack rather than the right.
Despite those obstacles, Diomande remains a player admired for his immense potential. Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schafer previously praised the teenager, describing him as a player with “outstanding speed, can dribble, is very athletic and can finish.”
However, unless PSG’s move unexpectedly falls through or the winger changes his mind, Arsenal may ultimately focus their efforts on more realistic left-sided attacking targets who better suit the club’s immediate needs.
