Eliud Owalo reveals lucrative reward for Gor Mahia ahead of AFC Leopards clash
Gor Mahia FC has received a major boost heading to the Sunday, April 26, 2026, Mashemeji Derby against archrivals AFC Leopards.
The record 21-time champions, who lead the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League with only five games to play, will walk away with a sum of Ksh1 million in a reward scheme revealed by the club as a token from club patron Eliud Owalo.

“Patron Eliud Owalo pledges to reward Gor players with KSh1 million if they win the upcoming derby match against AFC Leopards on Sunday; the Patron says the amount is a token aimed at motivating players and rewarding performance-based results,” part of Gor’s statement on the cash motivation read.

The two clubs face off in a tense encounter at the Nyayo National Stadium in what will be the 99th meeting between Kenya’s most followed clubs.
The fixture is the highlight of the league’s round 29 fixtures that will also bear a huge impact on the ultimate race for the league championship.
