Boost for Charlton as Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje returns from injury
By Luke Oluoch, April 10, 2026English Championship side Charlton Athletic has been handed a major injury boost with the return of Kenyan international Collins Sichenje ahead of the final run-ins for the second-tier league
In an update on Friday, April 10, 2026, the London club confirmed the return of those who have resumed training on grass after being sidelined with a hamstring issue.
Sichenje joins his teammate, Miles Leaburn, among the positive injury news, while Thomas Kaminski (shoulder), Reece Burke (thigh), Conor Coady (concussion), and Josh Edwards (ankle) are all expected to miss out.
Missing in action
The January 2026 arrival at the southwest London club has been out of action since late February 2026 and has missed up to three fixtures for the Addicks.
The Addicks are angling for a championship clash on Saturday, April 11, 2026, when Preston North End visits The Valley at 5:00 pm. The tie will open up a decisive round of the final five fixtures in the English second-tier league.

While not in contention for top-flight promotion, Nathan Jones’ side is working to improve its position. The team heads into the weekend’s contest on the back of a 1-1 draw against Watford on Easter Monday that left them 18th after 41 games.
Sichenje joined Charlton from SK Vojvodina and went straight to feature in successive games before an injury ruled him out of action. He made his debut in a draw against Southampton FC, showcasing his versatility to win the Man of the Match accolade after the game.
He has since been among the Kenyan players making headlines overseas while commanding a huge fan base both at home and among a section of the southwest London fan base.
Speaking on the club podcast in a past interview, the player revealed his excitement at the massive support he received after his move to England.
“It is massive from the Kenyan people. The same happens when playing for the Kenyan national team—they always support me and show me the love. I don’t take it for granted, and I constantly try to improve in my game and represent them in everything I do,” he stated.
