Big boost for Gor Mahia as star returns to training ahead of Tusker showdown
Gor Mahia FC have been handed a timely boost with news of defender Silvester Owino resuming light training ahead of the team clash against Tusker FC.
The Harambee Stars ace has been out of action since Monday, March 16, 2026. This occurred when K’Ogalo confirmed his injury after a nasty collision during a past clash against Ulinzi Stars.
The club later confirmed a six-week injury layoff, but the player has since made a return after resuming practice on grass.
Back on Grass
“HE IS BACK! Guess who’s back to light sessions,” a statement from Gor Mahia on the center back’s return read.
The club has, however, alluded to a possible return date in the near future.
“First day in training, and he is still taking it slow, and the recovery process continues,” the club explained.
Speaking on Owino’s absence, Gor Mahia coach Charles Akonnor termed it a huge blow to the club.
“It’s a big blow to us, more so at this crucial stage of the season,” Akonnor admitted then.

We must find a way to navigate with the available players, as they are equal to the task. We just hope for no setback again in terms of injuries,” he added.
The foregoing comes as Gor Mahia steps up preparation for Tuesday’s encounter against Tusker FC.
League preparations
As part of the preps, Charles Akonnor’s side beat Fortune Sacco FC 3-0 at Wang’uru Stadium on Friday, April 10, 2026, the same venue where the FKF PL rivals will clash.
The high-stakes tie will see K’Ogalo out to return to winning ways, seeing their title charge slowed with a 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks on April 4, 2026.
Prior to that draw, the team had won two consecutive matches against Shabana FC (2-1) and Ulinzi Stars (3-1).
Sharks’ stalemate had Gor cede ground, with challengers AFC Leopards now menacingly close with just four points behind with less than seven games to go.
