Amos Wanjala makes Valencia B’s appearance in draw against Poblense

Kenya U20 captain Amos Wanjala marked his first start for his new club Valencia Mestalla as the home team battled to a 2-2 draw against Poblense on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Spain.
The Kenyan youngster had a solid performance as his side shared the spoils in a closely contested encounter of the Segunda Federación.
Wanjala’s maiden appearance came a couple of weeks after the former Solidarity Boys defender earned his debut for the Mestalla-based club days after switching clubs in Spain.
His league debut came on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in a cameo appearance during a 1:0 win against Alcoyano.
Sunday’s draw against the league leaders saw Valencia move a place up in the standings to 12 with 28 points, as Poeblense retained its spot at the helm with 44 points.
The Kenyan U20 skipper has been in the books of Athletic Club Torellano before making the switch to Valencia reserves in January 2026.

Wanjala’s exploits added to the list of overseas stars plying their trade in the European league.
Kenyans in La Liga
In the capital, Madrid, another Kenyan, Job Ochieng, was named in the Real Sociedad matchday squad as his side slumped to a humbling 4-1 defeat at the Bernabéu in the La Liga fixture.
The former Ligi Ndogo ace earned another call-up to Pellegrino Materazzo’s team squad, days after his historic debut with the senior team on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The feat added him to an exclusive club of three Kenyan internationals who have stepped into the Spanish top-tier league alongside the former Harambee Stars pair of McDonald Mariga, who played for Real Oviedo during his heyday, and Michael Olunga.
The latter holds the record for the only Kenyan to score a hat-trick in La Liga, a feat he achieved during his loan spell with Girona.
Elsewhere, former Sofapaka and KCB midfielder Jack Onganya also made his debut for Spanish side Cadiz CF Mirandilla in their 1-1 draw against Chiclana FC.
