Harambee Stars midfielder Job Ochieng achieves La Liga milestone
Harambee Stars midfielder Job Ochieng achieved another major career milestone on Saturday, February 7, 2026, after making his La Liga debut for Real Sociedad.
Ochieng’, a member of the Real Sociedad B team, made the bow in a 3–1 victory over Elche. He was introduced in the 64th minute, replacing Gonçalo Guedes, as Sociedad picked up three crucial points in front of their 30,187 fans at the Anoeta Stadium.
Ochieng’s Real Sociedad B side achieved promotion in July 2025, with the former Ligi Ndogo ace playing a pivotal role in the ascent, months after signing for the club.
First team call-up
Ochieng’s stint with the La Liga outfit’s first team began in December 2025, when he was included in the matchday squad for the clash.
Despite remaining unused in the clash, the call-up affirmed his growing football profile.

The 23-year-old began his journey at Ligi Ndogo before making a bold move to Club Deportivo Maspalomas in Spain at just 17.
From there, he earned trials at Real Sociedad and impressed enough to secure a two-year deal with the La Liga juniors team.
More first-team call-ups for Ochieng
2025 has seen the versatile attacker, who can play on either wing or as a number 9, enjoy an epiphany as he made several inclusions to the senior team squad for La Liga matches.
One of his memorable moments with the first team came recently after he featured in Pellegrino Materazzo’s team squad, with another mention in Sociedad’s first team.
The team stunned the Catalan giants in the clash in a famous 2-1 victory on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
With the win, the La Liga club is now ranked eighth on the table after 23 rounds of La Liga action.
His La Liga debut now ranks him in an exclusive club of three Kenyan internationals who have stepped into the Spanish top-tier league alongside the former Harambee Stars pair of McDonald Mariga, who played for Real Oviedo during his heyday, and Michael Olunga, who remains the only Kenyan attacker to score a hat trick in the Spanish top league during his time on loan with Girona FC.
