Salasya vows to mentor youth and inspire ambition

Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering Kenya’s youth, stating that his leadership is focused not just on politics but on inspiring the next generation to rise above limitations.
Salasya has struck a chord for balancing seriousness in leadership with relatability on social media. His remarks suggest a call to distinguish between his entertainment persona and the committed public servant he claims to be.
His message comes at a time when Kenya’s youth are grappling with unemployment, disillusionment, and a lack of mentorship. Salasya’s willingness to be a relatable yet focused role model could resonate widely, especially among the digital generation that follows his every move online.
In a statement on his X account on Sunday, August 3, 2025, Salasya said he sees his role not only as a legislator but also as a mentor to young people across the country.
“I am never that serious until I get it right,” he declared, signalling his resilience and down-to-earth approach to leadership ahead of the 2027 polls.
Salasya, one of the youngest MPs in the National Assembly, has become a symbol of youthful ambition and authenticity in politics. He emphasised that his journey reflects the potential of ordinary young Kenyans to achieve extraordinary things.

“We keep rising or soaring together as young people,” he stated, underlining his vision of collective growth among the youth.
In a message that seemed to differentiate his public image from the often viral and humorous clips circulating online, Salasya made a pointed clarification:
“I am willing to be a mentor to many young people about real Salasya, na sio ule Salasya cinema ya social media. Hiyo inakuwanga tu ya kupitisha wakati when we are bored.”
Salasya further promised to use his platform to help young people realise their dreams, offering both guidance and opportunities.
“I will support young people in realising their dreams through my advice and my zeal to make my people who chose me to be satisfied with my work,” he said.
The MP reiterated that, whether through policy or personal mentorship, a blend of humour, humility, and ambition might just be what Kenya’s young people need most right now.
