Uhuru Kenyatta graces Kabarak University’s 21st graduation ceremony

Kenya’s 4th President, Uhuru Kenyatta, graced Kabarak University on Friday, December 19, 2025, to preside over the institution’s 21st graduation ceremony.

The event celebrated the achievements of 2,390 graduands across various disciplines, marking a major milestone in the university’s history.

Kenyatta, dressed in a black academic gown adorned with maroon stripes and an orange neckpiece, was the Chief Guest, joining students, faculty, and guests in honouring the graduates.

In his address, the retired president congratulated the students and their families. “I extend my warmest congratulations to every graduate, your families, and indeed the entire Kabarak community. Today, as we witness the graduation of 2,385 candidates, we see that vision alive and thriving,” he said.

He also commended the university’s emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation. “Entrepreneurship is an integral part of any developing nation. Kenya’s future depends on innovators who can transform challenges into opportunities. I commend Kabarak University for nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship,” Kenyatta stated.

He noted the institution’s efforts in applied research and commercialisation, pointing out that several students have developed prototypes now ready for patents and wider use.

Kenyatta urged graduates to uphold integrity, consistency, and service as they enter professional life. “Your skills are not just for personal advancement, they are for nation-building. The programs that you have pursued here, from STEM to law, from education to business, are directly aligned with these national priorities,” he said.

Leadership and national service

He also recognised the university’s international collaborations and new programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Master of Science in Data Science, and the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, emphasising that these market-driven courses give students a competitive edge globally.

On the importance of parents and faculty, Kenyatta said, “Your dedication is the foundation of today’s celebration. To the entire faculty and staff, thank you for your commitment to excellence. You have shaped these graduates into men and women ready to serve.”

Concluding his speech, Kenyatta encouraged the graduands to embrace global opportunities while upholding Kabarak’s core values of faith, excellence, and service: “Carry with you the values of faith, excellence, and service. Let your light shine across different boardrooms, government offices, international organisations, and the private sector. Go forth and make a difference. The world is ready and waiting for you.”
