Sunday blackout to affect parts of 5 counties

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout that will affect parts of five counties on Sunday, December 7, 2025.

The company said in a notice issued on Saturday, December 6, 2025, that the planned interruption is due to routine maintenance on the electricity network.

In Nairobi County, the blackout will affect Bunyala Road from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The areas to be affected include Bunyala Road, Commercial Street, Baricho Road, Dunga Road, Dunga Close, Witu Road and nearby customers.

Parts of Enterprise Road, Road B and Road C will also experience an outage from 9 am to 3 pm. The areas to be affected include Road B, Kuguru Roop, Zoa Taka, Bachu Industries, Falcon Road KHE Limited, Rubis, the whole of Falcon Road, part of Road C, Naivas Warehouse, General Motors, Sameer Road, Safe Tec Solutions, Colour Print and nearby customers.

Kenya Power said that part of the ICD will also be off from 9 am to 3 pm. ICD and adjacent customers will be affected.

Along Mombasa Road, power will be interrupted from 9 am to 3 pm. Affected areas include Ramco Mombasa Road, Phillips Business Park, UR Home, Schneider Electric, Doshi Group of Companies Mombasa Road, Ipemans, South Field Mall, Gertrude Children’s Hospital Embakasi, Rudis Petrol Station North Airport Road, Hebatula, Press Masters, Marina Hospital, Sheba Medical Centre, IPBS and nearby customers.

Imara Daima will also be affected from 9 am to 3 pm. Areas to experience the outage include Maziwa Stage, M Gas Mukuru Depot, Villa Police Station, Wapewape Road, Embakasi Girls, Muindi Mweusi Supermarket Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Chaminade, Saint Mary’s Hospital Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kware Police Post, Mukuru Kwa Njenga Primary School, Kware Statehouse, Pipeline Chairmans, Muindi Mweusi Supermarket Pipeline, part of Plot Ten and nearby customers.

Catherine Dereva Road and Pipeline will also have an outage from 9 am to 3 pm. Affected areas include Scion Hospital, V Club, Joharis, Mukuru Health Centre, part of Villafranca Estate, Kings Millennium, Saint Bhakita, Takbir Distributors, Mukuru Educational Centre, Penda Medical Centre Embakasi, Bamba Seventy, Unique Estate, Seyani Brothers, Kenya Builders, Honey Suckle, King of Judah Ministries, Swaminarayan School and nearby customers.

Another section of Imara Daima will experience a blackout from 9 am to 3 pm. Areas include Riara School, Muimara Estate, Imara Daima Estate, Imaara Mall, Villafranca Estate, ICC Imara, Daima Springs, Imara Garden Estate, Amara Park, Sunrise Park Estate and nearby customers.

In Machakos County, the blackout will affect EPZ Road from 9 am to 5 pm. Companies and facilities to be affected include Nodor, African Coffee Roasters, Avocado Processing, Parachichi, Hela, Royal Apparel and nearby customers.

Along Namanga Road, the outage will run from 9 am to 5 pm. Affected areas include Alliance, CP Power East Africa Limited, EAPC Precast Concrete and nearby customers.

In Uasin Gishu County, parts of Soy and Furfural will be without power from 9 am to 6 pm. Affected areas include Soy, Likuyani, Imbinga, Ivugwi, Lumino, Navilus, Kabobo Farm, Kipsomba, Tarakwa, Chemoset, Lugulu, Chemororoch, Furfural, Mawe Tatu, Nangili, Kongoni and nearby customers.

In the Western Region, parts of Kisumu County will experience an outage in Rota from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The areas to be affected include Rota, Holo, Kombewa, Yago, Ngere, Kolenyo, Wanga Rot, Riat, Bodi and nearby customers.

In Kakamega County, residents of Mumias Town and surrounding areas will be without power from 9 am to 5 pm. The outage will affect Mumias Town, Saint Mary’s, Nyengesi, Manyatta, Mumias Level Four, Shitsitswi, Bomani, Saint Peter’s and nearby customers.
