The tribute has since been met with an outpouring of sympathy from Kenyans, and followers sending messages of support and condolences.

Earlier loss hits hard

The sad news comes four months after Alai was hit with another personal loss, when his cousin, Robert Alai Rabari, passed away in September 2025.

In a heartfelt tribute, Alai mourned Rabari, with whom he shared both a name and a close personal bond.

“It is with profound sorrow that I share the passing of my dear cousin, Robert A. Rabari. We not only shared a name but also a bond that will remain in my heart forever,” Alai wrote.

He described Rabari as a devoted brother, father, friend, and colleague, expressing deep sorrow over his passing.

At the same time, Alai called on Kenyans to support fundraising efforts for the burial. He urged people of goodwill to contribute through prayers and financial support, ensuring a dignified send-off for his cousin.

“A fundraiser will be held today at All Saints Cathedral from 5:00 PM to help the family raise funds for funeral arrangements. Your presence, prayers, and contributions are deeply appreciated.” Alai posted. he wrote.

The tragedy comes at a time when Alai continues to balance his public service duties with personal struggles, highlighting the human side of leaders often known only for their political battles.

While Alai had previously called on Kenyans to support fundraising efforts for his cousin’s burial, he has yet to share the arrangements for Aggrey Rabari Alai’s funeral.
