PCEA’s Rev Daniel Nderitu dies days after Rev Julius Ndumia’s tragic killing
The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) fraternity has once again been thrown into mourning following the death of Reverend Daniel Kamau Nderitu of PCEA Thika Town Parish, coming just days after the tragic killing of PCEA Tabuga’s Reverend Julius Ndumia.
The heartbreaking news sparked an outpouring of grief from church leaders, congregants, political figures and members of the wider Christian community, many describing Rev. Nderitu as a devoted servant of God whose impact in ministry and society would long be remembered.
Among the first institutions to publicly mourn the late preacher was Kirk TV, the official communication channel of the PCEA Church.
In a condolence message shared on Facebook on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the station sent heartfelt sympathies to Rev. Nderitu’s family, friends, congregants at PCEA Thika Town Parish, and the entire PCEA fraternity.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Rev. Daniel Kamau Nderitu, congregants of PCEA Thika Town Parish, where he served, and the entire PCEA fraternity,” Kirk wrote.
The message described the death as a painful loss to the church community while praying for peace, comfort and strength for everyone affected during the difficult period of mourning.
“With heartfelt sympathy, we condole with the family, friends and congregants of PCEA Thika Town Parish and wish you peace and strength,” the Kirk statement added.

Reverend Stephen Ndoria also confirmed the tragic news through an emotional biblical reflection centred on faith, death and belonging to God. In his message, the preacher encouraged believers to trust in God’s appointed time and divine judgment, noting that human beings ultimately belong to the Lord whether in life or death.
“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord…Therefore, judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time, each will receive their praise from God. 1 Corinthians 4:5,” Ndoria wrote.
Thika Town Member of Parliament Alice Ng’ang’a also joined in mourning the late clergyman, expressing shock and devastation over his passing.
The legislator described Rev. Nderitu as not only a man of God but also a personal friend whose dedication to ministry and service to people had touched many lives.
“It is deeply devastating to learn of the passing of my friend, Rev. Daniel Nderitu of PCEA Thika Town Parish. Rev. Nderitu was a devoted man of God and a true servant of the people whose impact will never be forgotten,” Alice wrote.

She further extended condolences to his family, friends and the wider PCEA community while praying for strength during the painful moment.
“My sincere condolences to his family, friends and the entire PCEA fraternity during this difficult time. Go well, my friend, until we meet again. Rest in peace!” she added.
The death of Rev. Daniel Nderitu comes at a particularly emotional time for the PCEA Church, which is still reeling from the tragic killing of Rev. Julius Ndumia of PCEA Tabuga Parish.
Rev. Ndumia died on May 3, 2026, after unknown assailants cornered him at his residence in a shocking incident that left congregants and fellow clergy in deep mourning.
The procession stretched from Cool Rivers Hotel to PCEA Tabuga Church, where mourners sang hymns, prayed and remembered the slain reverend as a humble and dedicated servant of God.
