Motorists cautioned after vehicle catches fire along Nairobi Expressway

Motorists have been advised to drive with caution after a vehicle caught fire following mechanical issues along the Nairobi Expressway near the Southern Bypass Entrance B (K13).
In a statement issued by Moja Expressway, motorists were also urged to approach the area with caution while their team cleared debris from the road.
“Motorists are advised to drive with caution at K13 near the Southern Bypass Entrance B as our team clears debris following a successfully contained vehicle fire. Your safety is our priority,” the Moja Expressway statement reads.
“Please approach the area with caution as our team works to clear the debris from the road.”
According to Moja Expressway, the incident occurred today, Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 0904 hours, causing a brief traffic slowdown as the vehicle began to combust.
“Traffic was temporarily disrupted along the Nairobi Expressway, near Southern Bypass Entrance B, after a vehicle encountered mechanical issues, later resulting in combustion,” the Moja Expressway statement reads.
In addition, the company stated that its patrol team, working with the Kenya Police Service, safely evacuated the passengers and extinguished the fire while ensuring other motorists remained safe.
“Our patrol team working closely with the Kenya Police Service were able to safely evacuate the passengers aboard the vehicle and extinguish the fire, while keeping other motorists safe,” the Moja Expressway statement reads.
