Mosiria weighs in on viral video of man breaking down after losing property to auctioneers
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has weighed in on a viral video showing a man breaking down in front of his children after losing his property to auctioneers.
Mosiria shared the video on his social media platforms on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to highlight the plight of many Kenyans who have shared their experience with him at the hands of rogue lenders.
The raw pain of the man could be seen in the video as he bitterly lamented losing property worth Ksh10 million over a loan that he had financed with only Ksh1.5 million remaining.
He called out rogue lenders working in cahoots with auctioneers, noting that the majority of those falling victim are boda boda riders and online ride-hailing drivers.

“These are the very issues I have been speaking about. The people most affected are taxi drivers, online ride-hailing drivers, and boda boda riders, who are increasingly falling victim to scamming and con games.
Calls for justice
Mosirai shared that most people who should call out the worrying trend are silent as they are beneficiaries of the business that has left many wallowing in depression and poverty.
“Unfortunately, very few are willing to speak out because many are beneficiaries of this business.
He maintained that the distraught man captured in the video deserves justice and urged all relevant government agencies to intervene.
“Nevertheless, this man deserves justice. I call upon the police and all government authorities responsible for regulating this sector to intervene, investigate these scams and con games, and ensure that justice is served.
Heartbreaking video of a man
In the video, the man can be seen lying on the floor in pain as he is comforted by people believed to be his family members.
He cries out, revealing that his property valued at more than Ksh10million had been seized over a debt of Ksh1.5 million.

Mosiria has been consistent in calling out rogue lenders conniving with others to exploit Kenyans and recently raised the alarm on loans that are sinking many to debts.
“Kuna loan zinamaliza watu hapa inje ,zinaleta umaskini! (There are loans that reduce people to nothing and bring poverty),” Mosiria stated.
He urged loan companies to stop misleading clients with unfair terms.
“To lending institutions: please stop misleading your clients and overcharging them through ambiguous interest rates,” he said.
