“I am consulting a lot, I am consulting for some governments, I am doing what I like, and I am like you know…I am the best father and husband because I have a lot of time now,” he added.

Kuria highlighted the importance of spending quality time with his family during this period away from active politics. He said that he enjoys mentoring his children and sharing experiences that help them grow.

“I spend a lot of time with my boys. We always used to meet with Baba (the late Raila Odinga)… with them abroad. So I spent time with them abroad, you know, to mentor them and to show them how to do things,” he explained.

Finding balance and meaning

Kuria also reflected on the benefits of stepping back from the political scene, particularly after the Mbeere by-elections. He described this sabbatical as a valuable period that allowed him to focus on family, personal growth, and other interests.

“Other than the Mbeere’s by-elections, this sabbatical from politics, I couldn’t ask for more. It was the best,” he said.

He admitted that, like anyone, he sometimes experiences moments of sadness, but overall, he feels content and fulfilled.

“Sometimes I get depressed hahahah…I like my life to have a meaning. I love how now my life has a meaning,” Kuria said.

The lawmaker’s message is that he is healthy, engaged in meaningful work, and enjoying the opportunity to dedicate more time to his family. His comments are aimed at reassuring the public that, despite speculation, his well-being is intact, and he is making the most of this period away from the political spotlight.
