Man jailed for 3 years for threatening to kill a woman
By Zipporah Ngwatu, March 4, 2026A Nakuru court has jailed Francis Njoroge for three years after it found him guilty of threatening to kill one Mary Njeri.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) pressed charges against Njoroge with the offence of threatening to kill contrary to Section 223(1) of the Penal Code.
Upon arraignment on February 6, 2026, Njoroge pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
In his ruling on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Senior Principal Magistrate Aloyce Peter Ndege convicted him upon his own plea of guilty.
Further, the magistrate noted in sentencing him that he considered the pre-sentence report presented in court on February 25, 2026, revealing that Njoroge has a previous conviction.
Magistrate Aloyce stated that the report concludes that the accused may not be suitable for non-custodial rehabilitation services offered by the probation officers.
The learned magistrate noted that after the probation report was produced in court, the accused had no comment on the same.
“I have taken note of the report findings and recommendations and, further, the fact that the accused has a previous conviction and do hereby sentence him to serve 3 years’ imprisonment,” Magistrate Aloyce ruled.

Right to appeal
However, the convict has a right to appeal within 14 days.
According to court papers, Njoroge, while armed with a knife, without lawful excuse, threatened to kill Njeri by uttering the words ‘mtu lazima akufe leo‘.
The court heard that the incident took place at Tabuga Village in the Githioro area in Nakuru North sub-county within Nakuru County.
