Kenya Power lists parts of 10 counties to experience blackout on Tuesday

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions set to affect 10 counties on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, as part of scheduled network maintenance.

In a statement shared on X on Monday, February 16, 2026, the utility company noted that the outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in selected areas.

In Nairobi, the blackout will affect parts of Mutuini, Kabiria and Dagoretti, including sections of Dagoretti Road, Rhino Park Road, Farm Lane, Karinde Shopping Centre, Nine Sisters, Gitiba Primary School, Resurrection Garden, Muhugugu Park and Mama Ngina Children’s Home.

Parts of Parklands will also be without power, including Githuri Road, 6th Parklands, City Park Drive, Mwambao Road, Muthaiga Road, Serengeti Avenue, Naivasha Avenue, Muthaiga Country Club and Orchard Close.

Rift Valley and ukambani region

In Makueni County, the interruption will hit Wote and surrounding areas, including parts of Itangini Market, Kilala Market, Mukuyuni Market, Kiniu Market, Kyambalasi Market, Kivani Market, Kola Market, Kali Market, Utangwa, parts of Kikima Market, Kitundu and Kilyungi.

In Uasin Gishu County, Annexe Centre and Sukunanga area,s including Toyota Kenya Annexe, Annexe Jay Giriraj, KENHA, Annexe School of Law and surrounding customers will be affected.

Kajiado County will see outages in parts of Swan, including Old KIWASCO, Signature Club, parts of Swan Centre and National Oil Filling Station.

Western and Nyanza region

In Kakamega County, the blackout will affect Shikhoti and areas around Mararaba, Esumenya, Ebutenje, Powespot, Lukume, Mutsuma, Munguru and Lwanda.

Kisii County areas, including Gesonso, Kiaruta Dispensary, Waterpark, Citam Church, Matongo, St. Peter’s School and Nyawokoa will also be without electricity.

In Migori County, the interruption will cover Ochuna Market, Kanga Oditi, Kae Primary School, Chemachichi Primary School and Olando Primary School.

Homa Bay County will experience outages in Kandiege and Masogo, including Nyaola, Ngula, Kodula, Bala, Opujo, Kajimo, Okiki Amayo, Adhiro, Ouru, Kanyamfwa, Kotonje and Alum Beach.

Central Kenya

In Nyeri County, Gikondi Market, Thunguri Coffee Factory, Nduma, Mukurweini Technical, Sister Irene Secondary School, Muthuthini, Kamachuni, Kaharo and Kibutio will be affected.

In Kirinyaga County, the interruption will hit Difathers Market, Kamunyange, Togonye Primary School, Kajiji, Kathiriku, parts of Riagicheru, parts of Kitharaini, Karuangi and Mugamba Ciura Village.

Kenya Power said the maintenance works are aimed at improving network stability and reliability.

“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (17th February 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance.”The company stated.
