Kenya Power lists areas to experience power blackout on Saturday 11

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption affecting several areas within Nyamira County on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Residents and business operators in the affected parts of the South Nyanza Region will need to make alternative arrangements as the utility firm conducts routine grid maintenance.
According to an official notice released by the company, the disruption is expected to last for eight hours, starting from 9.00 A.M. until 5.00 P.M.
In a statement shared on their social media platform, the company advised customers to prepare for the temporary blackout.
The electricity supplier noted that “the interruption is part of network maintenance” aimed at improving service reliability and upgrading the local power infrastructure.
Affected areas and maintenance schedule
The maintenance schedule targets key installations, learning institutions, and market hubs within Nyamira County. Among the primary areas that will remain without power during the daytime operation is the Nyankoba Tea Factory, alongside Nyariacho.

Local schools and academic institutions will also experience the outage during the scheduled eight-hour window.
These include Kebirichi Secondary School, Nyankoba Secondary School, and Mongoni Secondary School.
Business operators at Birongo Market and all adjacent customers in these neighbourhoods are also advised to prepare for the blackout.
Customer support and enquiries
To help customers plan, the company has provided online platforms where users can access regular updates. For those who want to review the full details of the notice, Kenya Power recommends checking their digital portals under the most recent date.
Customers can also interact with the utility provider through their automated customer service systems to track power restoration progress or report any emergency faults.
The company highlighted that customers can also enjoy added convenience by chatting with Nuru, an online chatbot available on their official website.
This platform provides real-time information regarding regional blackouts and scheduled system updates.
Residents in the affected parts of Nyamira County are urged to keep their electronic devices charged and turn off sensitive electronic appliances before the maintenance begins to avoid power surge damage when the supply is restored.
