Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Thursday, June 18

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage in several parts of the country on Thursday, June 18, 2026, to allow for network maintenance.
In a notice issued to customers, the utility company said the planned outages will affect areas in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisii, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Kwale and Mombasa counties at different times during the day.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (18th June 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power announced.
Areas to experience blackout
In Nairobi County, parts of Spring Valley, including Kihara Road, Ngecha Road and nearby customers, will be without electricity from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
In Kajiado County, the blackout will affect Gataka and Rongai areas, including Gataka Shopping Centre, Gataka Road, Wanugu Road, Nakeel School, Mayor Road, Maasai Mall, both Quickmart branches, Hellena Road and Olemotondo Road from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Customers in parts of Gesusu in Kisii County, including Chibwobi, Ibanchore, Gesicho and Musa Nyandusi Secondary School, will also experience a power outage during the same period.
In Uasin Gishu County, areas such as Chuiyat, Kaplamai, Tulwet, Bindura, Kapngetuny and Kaplanga will be affected between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
The planned maintenance will also affect parts of Kiambu County, including Sigona, Zambezi, Nderi, KARI Muguga, KETRI, Mugumoini, Kamangu, Kamangu Shopping Centre and Runana from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
At the Coast, residents and businesses around Diani Beach Hospital and Leisure in Kwale County will experience an electricity interruption from 9.00am to 3.00pm.
The affected areas include Little Star, Bustani, Magagaja, Leopard, Absa and neighbouring customers.
In Mombasa County, the outage will affect parts of Shanzu, including Bamburi Airstrip, Shanzu AIC Church, Shanzu Catholic Church, Mzungu Tiles, Breezes and Shanzu Stage. Areas along Kilima Road and parts of Harambee Estate, including Twiga Villas Estate, Simba Estate, Salama Estate, Nyali Plaza, Ores Estate and Oshwal Academy, will also be affected from 9.00am to 3.00pm.
The utility company apologised for the inconvenience that may be caused by the planned maintenance works, and affected customers are urged to make the necessary arrangements.
“We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power stated.
