Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Saturday, May 23
By Paulette Mboga, May 22, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions that will affect parts of Uasin Gishu County on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
In a statement on X on Friday, May 22, 2026, the company said the blackout is part of scheduled network maintenance works.
In the notice shared ahead of the planned maintenance, Kenya Power informed customers that the interruption is necessary to allow maintenance operations to take place safely.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (23rd May 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power said.
The utility company further encouraged customers to check the latest maintenance schedules online. Kenya Power also directed customers to use its customer support chatbot for additional assistance and convenience.

“We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” the company stated.
Areas expected to experience a blackout
According to the notice, the affected region falls under the North Rift Region. The planned maintenance will specifically affect parts of Uasin Gishu County during the day.
The blackout is scheduled to take place from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. Customers within the listed locations are expected to remain without electricity during those hours as maintenance works continue.
The affected areas include Kipkorgot Centre, Carbacid, Plateau, Plateau Hospital, Bible College, Kipsinende Farm and nearby customers. Kenya Power said all the listed areas will experience a temporary power interruption during the maintenance period.
The company also advised customers seeking advance notice to use the provided online platform to access the latest updates and explained that customers should check under the most recent date to view current schedules.

The company noted that the service is meant to provide easier communication and convenience for customers seeking assistance.

The planned maintenance is part of the company’s routine network operations carried out in different regions to improve electricity services and maintain power infrastructure.
