Kenya Power announces day-long blackout in parts of 3 counties on Friday, May 15
Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions that will affect several areas across Kakamega, Uasin Gishu and Kwale counties on Friday, May 15, 2026.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled outages are part of ongoing network maintenance and improvement works aimed at enhancing power reliability in the affected regions.
According to the notice, parts of Kakamega County under the Western Region will experience electricity interruptions in the Khwisero area from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
“PARTS OF KAKAMEGA COUNTY. AREA: KHWISERO DATE: Friday 15.05.2026 TIME: 9.30 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ. Mulwanda, Khwisero, Khumsalaba, Eshikhuyu, Khwisero, Technical, Shikunga, Khumailo & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power wrote.
The affected areas in Kakamega include Mulwanda, Khwisero, Khumsalaba, Eshikhuyu, Khwisero Technical, Shikunga, Khumailo and nearby customers.
In the North Rift Region, Kenya Power announced that several parts of Uasin Gishu County will also experience blackouts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Areas expected to be affected in Uasin Gishu include Nasianda, Mirembe, Mumba Village, Makokha Market, Kisigame and adjacent areas.
“AREA: NASIANDA, MIREMBE. DATE: Friday 15.05.2026 TIME: 8.00 A.M.-5.00 P.M. Nasinda, Mirembe, Mumba Village, Makokha Mkt, Kisigame & adjacent customers,” the notice added.

The affected locations include Samburu, Taru and surrounding areas. Along Diani Beach Road, customers in Carrefour, Swahili Beach, Diani Shopping Centre, Simba Village, Chandarana and nearby areas are also expected to experience outages.
Additional interruptions in Kwale County will affect Mrima, Bumbuni, Mwashetani, Mwangwei, Kenya Loma, Horohoro Border Post, Lungalunga Market, Lungalunga Hospital and adjacent customers.
“AREA: MRIMA, LUNGALUNGA. DATE: Friday 15.05.2026 TIME: 9.00 Α.Μ. -5.00 P.M. Mrima, Bumbuni, Mwashetani, Mwangwei, Kenya Loma, Horohoro Border Post, Lungalunga Market, Lungalunga Hospital & adjacent customers,” the statement added.
Kenya Power advised customers in the listed areas to plan accordingly ahead of the scheduled maintenance exercise.
The company further noted that electricity supply may be restored earlier than the indicated time once maintenance works are completed successfully.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow, Friday, 15.05.2026,” Kenya Power added.
