Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 5 counties on Monday June 22
Kenya Power has announced planned maintenance that will lead to power interruptions in several regions across the country on Monday, June 22, 2026
In a notice issued to customers on Sunday, June 21, 2026, the company says the exercise is aimed at improving service reliability.
“Good evening. Kindly receive the areas scheduled for power tomorrow, Monday 22/06/2026, as attached,” Kenya Power said.
Nairobi and Kisii interruption
In the Nairobi Region, parts of Kitsuru will be affected during the maintenance period. Areas including Tate Close, Kitsuru Road, Forward Close, and nearby customers will experience a power interruption between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In South Nyanza, parts of Kisii County, specifically Ibencho and Nyamasege, will also be affected within the same time frame.
Residents in Nyakoiba, Ibencho, Nyansara, Openda, Eburi, Nyamasege, Kiagware, Nyaimera, Nyansakia, Kona Yonduko and surrounding areas will be without electricity during the scheduled maintenance between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Nyeri and Meru supply cut
In the Mount Kenya Region, several areas in Nyeri County, including Wambugu Farm and Kagumo, will experience power cuts between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Affected locations include Micha Market, Wambugu Farm Agriculture School, Gwa Kabiru, Githoithiro, Gichuki, Thunguma Children, Gatitu Market, Sugar Baker, Wambugu Resort, parts of Githiru, Kihoro Forest and adjacent customers.

In Meru County, areas including Kinaa, KWS Office and surrounding locations will also be affected during the period between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Residents in Kaweru, Kihutini, Kipkona, Kinaa Market, KWS, Rhino Camp, Njoune, Kamiruru, Nthare, Nguyuyu, Matindui, Kiengu, Kabuitu, Kiamuringa, Kanjoo, Mangala, Ikweta, Kanake, Therone, Thambiro, Materine, Garbatula and nearby customers will be without power.
Kwale disruption
In the Coast Region, parts of Kwale County will also be affected between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Areas including Mwangani, Mgandini, Kwale Town, Kinango Town, Tiribe, Madabara 1 & 2, Mtsangatamu, Burano, Mkongani, Deri, Ndavaya and surrounding customers will experience the outage.
