Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 5 counties on Monday, December 15

Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption that will affect parts of five counties on Monday, December 15, 2025, as the utility company carries out routine network maintenance.

In a notice issued on Sunday, December 14, 2025, the electricity distributor said the planned maintenance is necessary to improve service reliability and will take place between morning and late afternoon hours, depending on the affected area.

Nairobi, Machakos affected

In Nairobi County, parts of Lang’ata Road and the Jonathan Ngeno area will be without electricity from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Areas to be affected include sections of Wilson Airport, Skyward Airlines, parts of Dam Estate, Rubis Petrol Station, Uhuru Gardens, Deliverance Church, Maasai Estate, Jonathan Ngeno Estate, Breeze Estate and surrounding customers.

In Machakos County, the outage will affect Kinanie and its environs from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas listed include Msafiri, Athi Resort, EPZA Sewerage, Kinanie Shopping Centre, Gimu Estate, Karibu Homes, Moke Gardens, Mavowasco, Kilili, Nzoiani and adjacent customers.

Kisumu, Kiambu areas

In Kisumu County, power will be interrupted from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm in areas including Mamboleo Market, Wigot Hotel, Sharp Brain Academy, Hill Top School, Obuolo Junction, Kibos Primary School, Sky Lack, Kisumu Concrete, Opepo Junction, Ndugu Transport, St Anne’s, Kiwasco Water Tank and nearby areas.

Parts of Kiambaa in Kiambu County will also experience a blackout from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Affected areas include Kiambaa Market, Wagutu, Kiambaa Primary and Secondary Schools, Senior Chief Koinange High School and surrounding customers.

Extensive Kisii outage

In Kisii County, the planned outage will affect several towns and trading centres from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas listed include Keumbu, Nyamache, Keroka Town, Ogembo Town, Suneka (part), Tabaka, Kenyenya, Gesusu, Nyanturago, Riokindo, Sameta, Nyangusu, Etago, Nyabera, Kegati Market and many surrounding locations.

Kenya Power has advised customers in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and apologised for any inconvenience caused during the maintenance period. The company noted that the power supply will be restored as soon as the works are completed.
