Kenya Met issues nationwide weather update for Thursday, December 11

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a nationwide weather advisory for Thursday, December 11, 2025, warning of mainly sunny conditions across most parts of the country, with rainfall expected over a few places across the country.

In a statement released on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the Kenya Met also warned of strong winds expected in Marsabit and Turkana Counties.

“Mainly sunny intervals are expected over several parts of the country. Rainfall is expected over a few places in the Southeast Lowlands, Highlands East, and West of the Rift Valley,” the Met Department warned.

According to Kenya Met, Marsabit and Turkana Counties will experience strong winds exceeding 25 knots.

“Strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s) are expected over Marsabit and Turkana counties,” Kenya Met warned.

On the other hand, the department has warned of rains expected at night in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria basin.

The counties include Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kericho, Nandi, Bomet, Nakuru, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Naringo, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, and Narok.

“Showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places tonight. Sunny intervals are expected in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places in the afternoon,” Met confirmed.

On the other hand, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Kiambu, Tharaka Nithi, Laikipia, Nyandarua, and Nairobi Counties will experience partly cloudy conditions expected tonight with sunny intervals expected in the morning.

In addition, the listed regions will also experience showers in the afternoon.

Turkana and Samburu counties will experience partly cloudy conditions expected tonight, with sunny intervals expected to prevail the entire day.
In addition, Met has also warned that strong southeasterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s) are expected over Turkana County.

Meanwhile, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir and Isiolo Counties will experience partly cloudy conditions expected tonight. Mainly sunny intervals are expected to prevail the entire day tomorrow, with strong southeasterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s) expected over Marsabit county.

Similarly, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta and Kajiado Counties are also expected to receive partly cloudy conditions tonight. Mainly cloudy conditions are expected in the morning with a chance of light rain over a few places, breaking into sunny intervals for the rest of the day.

The coastal counties, which include Lamu, Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Tana River, will experience partly cloudy conditions expected tonight. Mainly cloudy conditions are expected in the morning with a chance of showers over a few places breaking intosunny intervals for the rest of the day.
