Junet Mohammed: I’m not an ODM mole
Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohammed has dismissed claims that he is an ODM mole, terming the accusations baseless and driven by political intolerance following the formation of the broad-based government.
Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Junet said the narrative branding some leaders as moles emerged after new political relationships were forged, arguing that certain individuals are uncomfortable with cooperation across political divides.
“This issue of being called a mole started after this broad-based government and the new relationships. Some people simply do not want these relationships,” Junet said.
He noted that leaders who support dialogue and cooperation are often accused of secretly advancing the interests of rival parties, particularly the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“So anyone who is opposed to those relationships will tell you, ‘oh, this one is a UDA sympathiser; they want to sell the party to the UDA,’ all kinds of nonsense,” he added.

Junet maintained that such accusations do not bother him, insisting that politics often comes with name-calling and propaganda.
“We have no apologies to make. In politics, you can say anything you want. You can call me a mole, a thief, or a broker—that’s your choice,” he stated.
Further, he emphasised that his loyalty to the party remains firm and questioned the logic behind claims that he could undermine a party in which he holds a senior leadership position.
“How do I become a mole in my own party where I am a senior official with the responsibility to make sure the party succeeds?” Junet posed.

He reaffirmed that his priority, and that of like-minded leaders, is to pursue what is best for the people and ODM supporters, regardless of political pressure or criticism.
“We know where we want to go. We will focus on what is good for our people and our supporters,” he said.
