7 injured as bus crashes into stalled lorry on Nakuru-Eldoret highway
Seven passengers aboard an Eassy coach bus sustained various degrees of injuries after their vehicle hit a stalled lorry at Ngata along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
According to the county traffic police enforcement officer, Ogola, the bus hit the lorry from behind at 3 am on Monday, December 15, 2025.

He said that the lorry could have developed mechanical problems and stalled on the road.
“The accident occurred at around 3 am, there was a stalled lorry on the road, and seven people were injured, but no one succumbed. We are managing the scene to clear, and in fact, I am rushing to the hospital to gather more details, “he said.
Ogola said that road users have to exercise a lot of caution along the corridor due to the large volume of vehicles during the festive month.

He said that some stretches of the road are narrow and, as such, drivers should ensure they slow down their speeds to avoid such incidents.
This comes days after another accident at Karai in Naivasha claimed the life of former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.
Confirming his demise on Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka mourned him as one of Kenya’s greatest sons.
“Death has robbed us of one of our greatest sons. Rest in peace, Hon. Cyrus Jirongo,” Lusaka said.
On his part, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli mourned Jirongo as an asset to the Luhya community and the country at large.

“This morning, with a lot of shock and sadness, I have learnt of the passing on of Cyrus Jirongo, who was an asset to our community and Kenya. We love him, but God loved him more,” he wrote on X.
Meanwhile, More than 50 passengers destined to Busia who escaped unhurt after a Nairobi-bound Climax bus collided with a private car that left Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo dead, have finally reached their destinations.
The crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
Simion Baraza, one of the passengers, vividly described the sequence of events that led to the fatal crash, revealing how a fateful overtaking manoeuvre by the private car driver resulted in a catastrophic collision with a bus.
“We thank God who saved our lives in the wee hours of the night when a bus we were travelling in hit a private vehicle belonging to Jirongo. We had a long Friday night. My family had to put me into prayer after they could not communicate with me. I could hear my mum trying to reach me on the phone, but the phone was far away; it had flipped off after the accident, Baraza said.
