2 arrested as police seize 38 rolls of bhang

Two people have been arrested after being found with 38 rolls of bhang in the Makao area of Kiamaina Ward.
In a statement shared by the National Police Service (NPS) on Saturday, December 6, 2025, the arrests were made on Friday, December 5, 2025, during a police operation by officers from Kiugoine Police Station. The individuals were taken to the station and are now in custody, waiting to appear in court.

The National Police Service said the operation is part of its ongoing efforts to fight illegal drugs and keep communities safe. Officers involved in the raid were commended for their commitment to tackling narcotics in the area.
The police also urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to help fight drug-related crimes.
“Yesterday, officers from Kiugoine Police Station conducted a crackdown on drugs in the Makao area of Kiamaina Ward. Two individuals were arrested after they were found in possession of 38 rolls of cannabis sativa. The suspects were taken to the station and placed in custody, pending a court appearance. The National Police Service commends the officers for their steadfast commitment to combating narcotics in the area,” the police said.

This comes days after a man was arrested in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, after police found him carrying 15 rolls of bhang during a routine patrol near Laikipia High School. The recovered rolls were secured as exhibits, and the suspect is now facing legal action.

The National Police Service (NPS) said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb drug possession and distribution, especially to protect communities and young people from the dangers of illicit drugs.
“A patrol operation by officers from Nyahururu Police Station has produced a positive result in the ongoing effort against drug possession and distribution in Laikipia County… The suspect was taken to Nyahururu Police Station, where the recovered substance was secured as an exhibit pending further legal action,” NPS stated.
Adding;
“The National Police Service reiterates its commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking… Such operations remain integral to safeguarding communities, particularly the youth, from the dangers associated with illicit drugs.”
