Cyrus Jirongo’s spouse, Anne Jirongo, has narrated how she learned of the untimely death of her husband while explaining how she thought it was just a mere game since she knew her husband had no plans of going to Naivasha that day.

Speaking on Saturday, December 27, 2025, during the memorial service, Anne narrated that she first got a call from an unknown person just moments after Jirongo’s car had crashed.

Anne narrated that she got the call at three o’clock asking if she knew the owner of the cellphone.

“At three o’clock, three twenty, when I got the call, I was still awake, trying to make sense of what I was feeling.  I saw his call, but when I picked it up, it was not him.  Someone asked me if I knew the owner of the phone,” Anne narrated.

She went on explaining that moments later the stranger quickly broke the news to her, explaining that Jirongo was unconscious and could not respond to the call.

“I told him, ‘Yes, that’s my husband.  I asked where he is and if I could speak to him, but they told me that he’s been involved in an accident and he was unconscious but was being attended to by the doctors,” she narrated.

Afterwards, Anne, together with her daughter, made their way to Naivasha.

According to Anne, it was still unclear that the accident happened in Naivasha since Jirongo did not have earlier plans of travelling to Naivasha.

“I continued talking, but I immediately asked my daughter Sonia to accompany me, and we started driving towards Naivasha. I could also not make sense when I was told that the accident had occurred in Naivasha because he had no plans of travelling,” she explained.

Anne explained that she thought her husband’s death was just a prank until an officer identified herself at the scene.

“So at first I thought it was a prank, but then the officer identified herself and said she was Corporal Rhoda of Naivasha police station,” she added.
