Youtuber Kogi Investor pleads with Mt Kenya creators to stop turning down govt gigs
YouTuber and aspiring politician Kogi Investor has urged fellow creators from the Mt. Kenya region to stop turning down government advertising opportunities and paid projects, warning that doing so is costing them significant income and slowing career growth.
Speaking during the launch of a new podcast hub by Muhia Wa Maingi in Kahawa Sukari on Monday, February 2, 2026, Kogi used the example of Muhia to illustrate the kinds of opportunities some creators hesitate to take.
He explained that many Mt Kenya content creators avoid government-sponsored projects because they fear being labelled traitors to their region or criticised for supporting the government.
“And I want to say that the only problem we have at this moment as Mt. Kenya creators is failing to take advantage of some opportunities. I will use the example of Muhia. He will reject going to do an advert about Boma Yetu because he will be called a traitor of the Mt Kenya region and such names,” he said.
He highlighted the case of creators who reject campaigns for projects like Boma Yangu, the government’s affordable housing initiative, out of concern that followers will call them disloyal to the region.
He emphasised that creators from other regions are capitalising on these same government adverts, partnering with the heads of the Creative Department and presidential projects to earn money and grow their platforms.
“Today, other content creators from other regions are making a lot of money through government adverts. Through the head of the Creative Department and through the head of the President’s project, you have chances,” he said.

Kogi urged Mt Kenya creators to stop letting political loyalties or pressure from leaders with personal ambitions prevent them from taking advantage of these opportunities.
“But the majority of you, just because you are following a leader who may have his personal interests and who is fighting for his own selfish ambitions, yet you have followers and good-performing pages, you turn down such stuff… just because you don’t support the President,” he said.
Meaning of democracy
The aspiring Kiambu senator then explained that the pure and sweet side of democracy is respecting different political views.
Supporting one leader while others support another, he clarified, should not affect business or professional decisions.
He encouraged creators to prioritise income and exposure over political perceptions, citing creators such as Tom Daktari and Vinny Baite, who have successfully run Boma Yangu adverts, as examples of what is possible.
“I want to say the pure and sweet side of democracy is taking sides. And by that, I mean if you are supporting David Maraga and I am supporting William Ruto, I respect your decision, and then whoever will win at the end will be the one. Now you guys go and check Tom Daktari’s page. He is doing Boma Yangu adverts. Check Vinny Baite’s page; he is also doing the same adverts,” Kogi said.
Kogi stressed that refusing government projects keeps creators stagnant financially while others thrive, and that simply showcasing completed initiatives, such as the Talanta Stadium, is a straightforward way to benefit from partnerships.
“And all you need is just to showcase that the government has built things like the Talanta Stadium, which will be holding 60,000 people. But now, because you are from Mt Kenya, you don’t want to go and do such jobs. People are going to make money, and you will keep languishing in poverty,” he shared.
