We were not ready for fame! Nameless and Wahu open up on struggles behind spotlight

Celebrity couple and musicians Nameless and Wahu have opened up about the pressures of fame and how they have managed to stay grounded despite over two decades in the spotlight.

Speaking during a live interview on K24 TV on Friday, April 17, 2026, the two reflected on their journey in music, admitting that while success came with excitement, it also brought unexpected attention.

“I love the music, but I was not ready for the attention. Try very much to learn yourself. I had to find my way to merge my introvert version,” Nameless stated.

Adding;

“I’m a very introverted person, so I wouldn’t do things that are too extroverted for me to handle.”

For a man who burst onto the scene in the late 1990s after winning a major music contest and quickly became a household name, the attention was inevitable. Over the years, he has grown into one of Kenya’s most celebrated artists, known for hits that defined an era and awards that cemented his place in the industry. Wahu, on her part, echoed similar sentiments, noting that fame was never something she fully anticipated when she began her music journey.

“Personally, I never expected the amount of attention. I still enjoy the writing process. When your music is played on the radio, people love that, it gets reception,” she said.

The singer, who started her career in the early 2000s and quickly rose to fame with hits like Sitishiki and Sweet Love, has enjoyed massive success across Africa. Wahu has not only won multiple awards, including an MTV Africa Music Award, but has also built a name beyond music as an entrepreneur and actress.

Together, the couple has become one of Kenya’s most admired power duos, blending love, music and family in a way that has kept fans invested for years. From chart-topping collaborations to raising a family in the public eye, their journey has been anything but ordinary.
