Vicky Brilliance reveals how Johana Ng’eno transformed her music career

Kalenjin musician Vicky Cherotich, widely known as Vicky Brilliance, has emotionally opened up about the profound impact the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament (MP) Johana Ng’eno had on her life and music career.
Vicky described the late MP as the man who believed in her when no one else did.
In an emotional message shared on her official Instagram account on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the singer explains that losing him felt like losing a father, a protector, and a destiny helper. She credited him with transforming her journey at a time when her music was nothing more than a dream fuelled by hope.
According to Vicky, Ng’eno stood by her when she had little to offer but passion. He encouraged her, lifted her spirits, and supported her without ever asking for anything in return.
She added that his belief in her talent gave her the confidence to push forward in an industry that can often be challenging and uncertain.

“I am broken beyond words as I write this. Losing our Patron, Hon. Mp Johana Ngong Ngeno, feels like losing a father, a protector, and a destiny helper,” she wrote.
“He believed in me before the world did. When my music was just a dream and hope was all I had, he stood by me. He lifted me, encouraged me, and supported me without ever asking for anything in return.”
She further revealed that his generosity went beyond mentorship. Through his support, she and several other artists were able to achieve life-changing milestones, including owning homes — something she once thought was impossible. What started as a distant dream became reality because someone chose to invest in her potential.
“Because of him, he helped us get a home — a dream I never imagined would come true. Today, I am not the only one blessed; many artists are now having homes because of his generosity and belief in us,” she added.

Void caused by his death
Vicky noted that the music industry will never be the same without him. His absence, she said, leaves a silence where his encouragement once echoed and a gap where his wisdom and fatherly guidance once gave artists strength.
“Life in our music industry will never be the same again without him. His absence leaves a gap that can never be filled — a silence where his encouragement used to be, a space where his wisdom and fatherly guidance once gave us strength,” Vicky pointed out.

Loss to Kipsigis
Beyond music, she described him as a pillar in the Kipsigis community, a fearless defender of the less fortunate and a voice for the voiceless.
“Today, the Kipsigis community has lost a strong pillar. He was a fearless defender of the less fortunate, always standing up for the vulnerable and fighting to ensure justice for those who had been treated unfairly. He was a voice for the voiceless and a shield for many families,” she added.
