‘Things have gotten worse’—Sam Kitiki says amid battle with cancer

Popular barber Samuel Kilonzo, widely known as Sam Kitiki, has once again shared an emotional account of his ongoing battle with cancer, saying his condition has recently worsened as he struggles to balance treatment and keeping his business afloat.

In a statement shared on his official Instagram account on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Kitiki issued an update about his situation, disclosing that life has taken a difficult turn.

He added that the biggest challenge he is facing is not only the illness itself but also the financial strain that has affected his access to consistent medication.

“Life has taken a difficult turn for me. I have been battling cancer, and recently things have gotten worse,” Kitiki revealed.

“The biggest challenge right now is not just the illness itself but the stress and lack of consistent medication, something that has been caused by my struggle to keep my small barbershop running.”

He explained that he invested his treatment money into sustaining his small barbershop, hoping that the business would eventually generate enough income to support both his livelihood and medical needs. However, he said the reality has been far more difficult than expected.

“I believe in working hard and earning my living with dignity. That’s why I invested my treatment money into keeping my shop open, hoping that with time, customers would come and I could sustain both my health and my business,” he added.

“Unfortunately, there are days now when not even a single customer walks in.”

Kitiki said the ongoing struggle has taken a toll on him, as he continues to experience worsening health conditions while trying to keep his shop running.

“This has forced me to make painful choices between my health and my livelihood—and right now, my condition is worsening,” Kitiki said.

Appeal to Kenyans

The celebrity barber has once again made a public appeal to Kenyans to support his business, saying even small acts of support could make a significant difference in his fight.

“I am humbly appealing to Kenyans: please support my small barbershop. Your visit, your haircut, your recommendation to a friend, and any support can truly give me a fighting chance,” he appealed.

“I want to keep fighting. I don’t want to give up. But I am human, and this journey is wearing me down.”

“To everyone who has supported me before, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your kindness helped me start this journey. I am once again asking for your support so I can continue both my treatment and my work. Please help me keep going 0724590868.”
