Soprano vs Wa Mitego: Kindiki & Gachagua war of words lights up social media
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Rigathi Gachagua’s war of words has escalated with the DP firing another salvo at the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader.
In a terse statement posted on Facebook on Monday, March 23, 2026, Kindiki did not hold back while responding to Gachagua’s recent remarks on the security situation in Meru North, in which Gachagua altered his voice to sound like the DP.
Kindiki referred to Gachagua as “Wa Mitego”, a name he has in the past used to refer to Gachagua on account of the former’s claims that he had set up traps at State House to trap former opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The DP dismissed his predecessor’s remarks over banditry in Meru North, asserting that the government’s action is not a result of Gachagua’s remarks.
“Wa Mitego… We are not acting because of your empty and childish threats and ultimatums, but because the government has a duty to protect the people of Kenya and their property,” he stated.
Kindiki’s take on Gachagua’s record
Kindiki further claimed that Gachagua failed while serving as the Deputy President but has since turned into a critic.

“You failed when you had the power and influence to assist the people, not just on security matters, but are you aware that you can not pinpoint one single development project you fought for its implementation anywhere in the Republic of Kenya while you were in office?
“You can rant all you like about Kasongo this, Soprano that, but your hateful rhetoric and useless threats won’t sell,” he added.
Gachagua ignites war of words
Gachagua claimed that he confronted Kindiki over the security situation in Igembe North before his impeachment.
“Akaniambia wach kwanza nisaidie rais ndiyo mkubwa wangu. Ni bure si bure? Unasikia vile Saprano aliniambia ati asasidie rais kwanza,” Gachagua said in Kiharu Constituency in Murang’a County on Sunday, March 22, 2026, while altering his voice in a bid to sound like the DP.

Gachagua slammed Kindiki, claiming that his priority has been going around with sacks of money in helicopters as the security situation deteriorates.
“Unazunguka hapa na ndege na pesa kwa magunia ati unasema wewe ni fire…Ni fire si fire, ni mnoma si noma,ni soprano si soprano? Hii soprano ni bure,” he added.
