‘Achia fireman sasa’ – Kindiki tells Ruto to let him handle insults after recent outburst
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has waded into the storm ignited by his boss, President William Ruto, who launched a series of heavy strikes targeting opposition leaders on Tuesday, March 17 2026.
The remarks, which sparked criticism with many slamming the head of state for remarks that were deemed unpresidential.
Addressing residents of Bomet on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Kindiki has appealed to his boss to let him handle the insults, claiming that he is up to the task and ready to lock horns with opposition leaders, who he said are below the level of the president.

Kindiki said that the opposition politicians have been using their time to insult and demean the Office of the President and its holder.
“Before you start demanding that President Ruto act presidential, have you treated him in a presidential manner?” Kindiki asked.
Kindiki asks Ruto to let him deal with insults
He revealed that he has since asked Ruto to let him handle the insults, exuding confidence that he will effectively handle the situation.
“Mimi nimesema sasa enough is enough. Mimi nimeambia mdosi wangu sasa atulize boli. Awachane na hawa watu. Ni watu wadogo awachie fireman,” he said in reference to his political slogan, ni fire si fire.
This loosely translates to: I have told my boss to let me handle them. They are insignificant people; he should leave them to the fireman.
He claimed that he is seasoned in Kenya’s politics and has fought bigger battles, and the current one will be a walk in the park.
“We will deal with these characters, these are small timers sisi tumepigana vita kubwa,” he added.

Ruto’s controversial statements
Ruto caused a stir after hurling a barrage of controversial statements at the opposition.
“Kwanza nawaambia baadhi yenu mwende gym; acheni kula chakula kingi. Matumbo yamejaa hadi vichwa vinakaribia kupasuka. Mnalala kwenye mikutano hata mchana,” Ruto said in Cheptais, Mt. Elgon, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
He fired another salvo at an opposition leader, whom he advised to get a wife, build a house, have children and learn to buy diapers before harbouring ambitions of leading the country.
